Ivermectin is used to control skin parasites, gastrointestinal parasites and parasites within the bloodstream. Anthelmintics are medicines used to treat or destroy parasitic worms that infect the body.

Ivermectin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections: Scabies. Pediculosis. Intestinal nematode infestation (Round Worm, Whip Worm, Thread Worm, Pin Worm). Filariasis (Elephantiasis, Onchocerciasis).

• Strongyloidiasis of the intestinal tract. Ivermectin is indicated for the treatment of intestinal (i.e., nondisseminated) strongyloidiasis due to the nematode parasite Strongyloides stercoralis.
• Onchocerciasis or river blindness. Ivermectin is indicated for the treatment of onchocerciasis due to the nematode parasite Onchocerca volvulus.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, bloating, diarrhea, headache, lightheadedness, or muscle aches may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: dizziness upon standing, fast heartbeat, chest pain, change in the appearance of the eye, eye swelling/redness, fever, joint pain, swollen or tender glands (lymph nodes), swelling in the arms/hands/feet. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
